Think you will want to be looking at a 8600GT or GTS ? if you have pci-e If you have got AGP then you can get 7800/7950 GT/GS But how your pc will play the new games is another matter |

do you want dx 9 or dx10? if dx9, you can pick an x1950pro up for £70, or an x1950xt up for ~£115. dx10, then what tinger said. |

don't bother with Sli, it;s a waste of time. it gives you roughly power of 1.4 cards(frequently even less), not 2. you would do better to buy a really good card now IMO |

PCI express slot Its hard to explain its like the g card interferes with my D drive and freezing in game, sometimes it just goes really jerky and stops but comes back again Sometimes it never unfreezes then restart the comp and says disc read error :uhoh: i have to unplug the lead from drive d and restart it to work then connect back Using the latest 1650 driver for it Everythings been changed except for the g card and still having the problem Im gonna upgrade my comp fully now with new motherboard ram etc (Just ordered the 8600GT lol) Edited by Raven on 28-10-2007 18:22 |

sounds like its the hard drive at fault... have friends running quad cores with dual sli 860gts gettings 140fps with everything maxed in tf2.. sli & multi cores will work better once games & apps start to use em properly.. tf2 should be able to use em once they have sorted the engine(it works server side atm as can split threads between the cores) I'm holding off upgrading for a bit longer.. as i'm still getting decent fps out of my single 32bit agp setup.. my specs lol AMD Barton XP2500(1.82ghz @ 2.4ghz) on Abit NF7 Board 1 gig o DDR1 @ 220 fsb CAS 2.5(try that with DDR2 or 3 lol) 2 x Western Digital 250gb in raid 0 X1950Pro Core 600Mhz Mem 1600Mhz(w00t) Realtek Gigbit Lan Hyper Power 580 watt I have had driver issues with the graphics Card and cannot use any of the drivers after 7.6 or any prior to 6.6 as ATI aren't been nice to newer agp cards Gaara what is your current mobo etc.. |

As much as I like AMD they suck at the moment when compared with Mintels offerings... Asus have been mixed quaility of late, a peeps getting DOA kit... there again I'm an abit fan my first abit mobo is over 8 years old & still running overclocked... If you really want AMD spooted this on scan's site AMD AM2 Athlon 64 6000+ Dual Core 3.0GHz, 2x 1MB Cache, Retail + Abit AN-M2, NF630a, S AM2, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 800, SATA II, SATA RAID, uATX On Board VGA - DVI/D-Sub £131.59 inc vat if your prepared to save up for a bit would look to the iX38 chipset from intel which is just becoming availible which is bit more future proof & has more features than you can shake a stick at... expensive at the moment as its a shiny new thing so should drop in price... |

ya sick but i thought he have an amd 939 board and so he doesnt have to buy a new one and a 4200 is good to overclock and not really expensive my next cpu will be a intel again after 7 years cause they presented their second wave of quadcores and amd doesnt have even 1 quadcore at the market |

but i read that pcie2.0 offers more voltage for the graca and so they dont need the external powercable |
