My PSU is slowwwly dying and I need to replace it. Problem is, I know absoloutly nothing about PSU's. I learnt that I can't figure out what cable does what by staring at it and thinking "What the fuck is that?". Anyone know of any articles that explains PSU's? The ones that I've been able to find aren't very helpful... Any brand recommendations would be good too Edited by Mike on 17-11-2008 18:00 |

Well, I have an OCZ 700W GameXtream, which is amazing for the price I got it at (Can't remember, but It was better than Slightly worse PSUs). As for the Article, you're better off looking up a tutorial on how to build a computer, because I don't think you're going to find a specific Article on PSUs. |

corsair make good psus and if you are installing it yourself, it should be quite easy as everything should be keyed up and fit in its own slot on the motherboard |

When getting a new PSU you should try and check if you will; a) have enough leads on it for all your needs if those leads are long enough My CD drive is to far away and so has no power. I could move it to a lower slot since I happen to have one but am lazy and it involves taking the whole thing to bits for a drive I don't really use. And my floppy drive that I put on simply because I have had it on every machine for years lacks a cable entirely. |
