Is it any good, I'm curious. how does it compare to ghost reveries and, say, morningrise? i've heard whichever song is their single from it, and it's pretty damn nifty. |

Erm, technically. They are, in some sense, progressive music. But they're a lot simpler than DT. That is to say that their music isn't a music-theory addled mish-mash of ideas (no offense intended) and they are much heavier than both rush and DT. Like, a good 80% of their music is death metal. Imo, they're basically a death metal band that mix death metal with chilled-keyboardy rock similar to bands like Camel. Which is really weird, but works awesomely. They also do loads of acoustic stuff. Often in their heavier songs, which gives them a really unique sound. Edited by Fallen Seraph on 09-05-2008 13:35 |

They're a band formed by two university students. It's marked as one of the top 10 bands to watch in 2008. Psychidelic pop. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MGMT Control yourself Take only what you need from him |

It is really good, however it is not their best work, but brilliant none-the-less. There is slightly less "growly" vocals than other albums, and one song even has a female vocalist at parts, which doesnt ruin the tone atall. There are roughly equal amounts of heavier/acoustic songs to ghost reveries, although there is a slightly "duskier"? tone than ghost reveries which was more harsh, imo. I would say it is closer to morningrise, but it wouldnt be opeth if they didnt re-invent some parts of themselves with each album. |
