even with the occasional shit code running on oracle backups & restores have always been quick takes about an hour for 140 gig db.. something is wrong with your setup sack your dba's Grin

Yea, of all the complaints I had for Oracle, speed wasn't really one of them. I only found it to be slow if it was a complex and fairly poorly written query over a lot of data.

On the other hand it might be something with the fact that it's installed on Windows machines. Still, this is no excuse. MS-SQL was working light-speed compared to it, and with GB of data...
