Yay new i7 rig
gori11a
Had been waiting to see if the new P55 boards and socket 1156 i5/i7 cpus were any good.
When they arrived they seemed expensive, only slighly less than the full trple channel memory socket 1366 boards and cpu, so i said wtf and went all in.
After checking for stabilty at standard clocks i'm now working my way up to 4.0ghzGrin

Hyperthreading is disabled in Bios, so only 4 threads.
Using very little Vcore, lower voltage all round and energy saving options still enabled.
Even at full load i get max temps of a little over 60c on air cooling, will add my water cooling when my old Core2 Quad is de-comissioned

Also got myself a new case to put it all in, a Coolermaster HAF 922 http://www.coolermaster.com/product.p...ct_id=6606
It's a great case with excelent air flow, and mounting up top for my double 120 rad.
I used a Antec 902 for a mates build earlier this year which was good but the HAF 922 was much easier to work with and had better wiring options.

very nice, are you air cooling or watercoolin?

Air cooling for now, bought a cheap Coolermaster Hyper212 plus. Very good for £17.99
Will have to pull old case apart to get water cooling loop out, as rad was cut into the roof.
