So... who's going to be the first to dive in and get one of these beastys? I plan on getting mine in a few months once some more boards are out (no chance im playing £200+ for a motherboard!) Core i7 CPU X58 motherboard (personally im waiting for the P55 - i assume its called that - boards) Triple channel DDR3 kit At the moment the cheapest combo of that on overclockers adds up to a hefty £600!! Cant wait |

I heard you can't boost memory voltage over 1.4v, meaning utter shite for overclocking? Or did I read crap - high chance I did considering its teh lollernetz |

well i should hope you can considering the standard DDR3 voltage is 1.7v - 2v they might have meant 2.4v, in which case it wouldnt be a problem for 90% of overclockers anyway Edited by Bios on 30-10-2008 19:34 |

not impressed that much by what I have heard so far, the extra $ seems very ott for what your getting, and the prices on the current ddr3 kit haven't really dropped much considering its been about for a while now... wait & see me thinks |

Interesting stuff frosty, cheers, i'll have to think long and hard before i dive in to buy one then (and no doubt wait a bit till the kinks are worked out with the earlier motherboards) yea they seem pretty pointless from a gaming point of view sick, but the multi tasking performance is excellent! only 4-6months ago DDR3 was REAAAALY overpriced, its defiantely coming down but its a very slow process On a plus note...preorderd L4D today w00t payday lol Edited by Bios on 31-10-2008 16:42 |

So... I'm thinking about getting a new system this summer. Is i7 still not worth the extra cash? |

I wasn't planning on going for a particularly expensive rig to be honest, just talk of the i7 made me wonder which route to go for. Might be better spending the extra money on cake. |
