There's a man at work who's asked me about this and at this present moment in time I'm totally unsure. He's got 2k to spend Wants an intel system with SLI/GX2 graphics cards and a crazy amount of ram. (He actually stated 8gb ram!!) - why he can't do this himself I don't know he's a sodding IT analyst/developer for BT - maybe this is why. O_o He was explaining it to me and asked me if I knew anyone who had a decent idea of systems and what he could get that would last him a couple of years. He doesn't want a top of the range but something that'll last him. If any of you guys have any spare time and would like to give me any ideas - it'd be lovely! |

He's happy to build it himself 2 grand is way more than enough really, but if i had that much to spend i would probably get this: cpu: intel quad core, 3.0ghz motherboard: probably an asus p5k, which i currently have. you can get better though ram: 4gb of corsair ram gfx: i wouldnt get SLI because its as buggy as an ants nest, so probably one of the new nvidia 9 series hdd: whatever really i currently run a dual core 2.4ghz processor on a p5k, with 2gb of corsair ram, an 8600gt and 320gb hdd. i have had zero problems and it cost me about £500, including case, 450w psu, keyboard + mouse, and 19" monitor, aswell as various other stuff like optical drives |
