I can see why it appeals to some people but i don't understand how they see new content as "new content".
It's the same stuff over and over again just in different settings.
An endless grind for gear, to get new gear, so you can go to the next instance to get more gear to go to the new instance so you can get more gear...

I got bored at level 40, but the community aspect was brilliant, just playing with friends is a reason i believe people stay so much.

Because afterall the game is just a random number generator in a 3d world with a chatbox.

Still subscribed to WoW. It's good. You shouldn't judge it before you've played it.

Played it - like any other MMPORG - bored bored bored. Grind here, grind there...ohh look I got a pretty cloak....grind grind grind....new map area....grind grind grind....now I can fire pretty green bolts ....and so on.

Tried with a few others Silkroad, Rappelz. My attention doesn't last that long unfortunately; I'd rather kill and be killed for a couple of hours, then quit.

I do agree that is has some appeal, i guess i just got bored of its formula.
That and the fact blizzard kept ruining the PvP system when I played.

And I also dislike how gear was more important than skill, but I guess that goes for any MMORPG.

Ya i got bored of wow too, after a while it just held no more interest. Still going to try the new Warhammer mmorpg when its out though looks good.

Thats one of the reasons I've not been playing as much recently. Like all MMOs you're really relying on the community at the end and my guild is mainly fun Smile I'm slightly pissed off at them at the moment since they didn't take me on the one raid I was able to attend this week even though I signed up a week in advance Sad
The pvp system is a little rubbish now yes. Anyone who wants to pvp has to get a new gear set, it means everyone wears the same armour and if you have no interest in pvp or just happen to be killing normal stuff then this fully geared guy can dive down and you won't even dent him.

Well, I think WoW's great, to be perfectly honest.

I've played since before release having played the beta for a good few months before it came out officially, and currently have 7 different level 70 characters to my name, spread across several servers, all of which I use to play with different groups of friends. My main character has experienced every single piece of content the game has to offer, having killed Illidan (last boss of the current hardest endgame raid) relatively recently.

I can see why so many people don't like it, and I totally agree, if you let it it will destroy your life, however I've accrued these characters over a massive period of time, and still have plenty of time to have a perfectly good social life, and also play plenty of other different games too!

Frankly the argument that people make about WoW being skill-less with regards to PVP is generally made by people who aren't very good at the game, simple as. If you put 2 teams of similarly geared people in an arena, quite frequently one team will batter the other, simply because they are better players, the same applies to any game. There is a lot of truth in gear giving you "the edge" over other players (and if you have a full top end geared character vs. someone who recently hit 70, then yeah they hardly stand a chance, but this is an extreme circumstance), but it by no means decides the fight outcome before it has started.

Long story short it's just like any other game, and like Marmite. You either love it or you hate it, and I've always loved MMO's, so for me it's the former. But as they say, everything in moderation. If you get bored of it, do something else for a while and go back in a couple of months. Guarantee it'll get fun again Smile

There's been betas going fro WAR for donkeys, although that may have been a closed beta I guess. Personally from what I've seen of it I'm not overly impressed, I am however really looking forward to Age of Conan Grin
