Decided against buying it. (Yay for another review from Mike) Yes, there are new graphic updates such as gore and fire (and I'll admit that the Rain in Hard Rain looks quite cool), but they don't really do much for me as, well, they're just graphics. After looking at other peoples comments, the music is either love or hate. I personally hate it. To me, it sounds very off tune and just doesn't seem to fit in with the scenery or situation. You're being flooded with zombies and it's blood and gore left and right, do you really want to listen to off-beat twangy music in the background? The AI is still awful. This time it's all-round awful though, survivors, zombies, SI all make equally make moronic movement patterns and decisions. Instead of puking on me, a boomer though it would make a better strategy to walk up to me and try to slash me. Shove, shoot, boom. They seem to seem to get stuck in some areas as well, getting caught on tables, walls and cars. Probably just the result of a rushed nav-map. Melee Weapons don't really do much for me. They lost their appeal to me quite quickly, after mashing a large group of zombies (and a charger) with ease on EXPERT whilst taking no damage at all also leads me to believe they are a bit overpowered. From what I've read from Valve interviews, the Director ability to change the enviroment is one of the main selling points of this game. I'll admit I was quite interested in that, but there was a tiny voice in my head muttering about how they're probably over-hyping it. Turns out that little voice was right. The only change I saw made was the door in the Jukebox room and the stairs over the fence further down the road. Neither changes made any difference to the gameplay at all, hardly a "different experience every time". I haven't notice any changes made to the 2nd map, I swear it's the same route over and over again. If the director only make these tiny, barely-noticable changes to all the campaigns, then that's one major selling point out the window. And what happened to randomized car alarms, like in Crash Course? Are we back to 1 static car alarm? That's quite a step backwards. To make it worse the characters now announce "Don't shoot that car", to eliminate any chance of suprise. Great. Aaaand onto the characters. This is another 50/50 thing, some people like 'em, some people don't. I wouldn't go far as to say I hate them (except Rochelle, I find her voice and face fairly irratating). I just don't think they're as likable as the L4D1 cast. Imo they don't seem to connect together as well as the old cast. Some of the voice acting is 50/50 too, sometimes it's alright, sometimes it's just emotionless and quite boring. I'll make comparison with L4D1: Francis: (growls) Stop. Shooting. Me. Nick: (monotone) Stop shooting me. Overall, I just don't think the gameplay's changed enough for me to buy it at full price. It's still just walk out of saferoom (They couldn't even be bothered to change the saferoom door), zombies stand around, you run upto them and shoot them. Occasionally the Spitter, Charger or Jockey will throw in some of their new abilities, but that novalty soon wears off once they're dead. Wondering Witch is quite cool, but again, it barely makes a difference as she's just as easy to kill as she was in L4D1. That petrol run thing doesn't seem to interest me as it plays simarly to Zombie Masters Docks map, which does lose it's appeal after a while. There are a few things I like, such as the story-joining campaigns, alternate weapon skins (although I still think the Chrome shotgun looks shite), weapons sound a bit better, new SI sounds, Uncommon Infected, new panic events and everyone loves the Jukebox. But there just aren't enough changes to warrant a full price, in my opinion. I'll probably get it in a 50% off weekend or something (Christmas, anyone?), but until then.... Now if you excuse me I'm going to start a single player game and mash away at Rochelles face with a frying pan, because that's one aspect of the demo that I find particularly enjoyable. Well I played through the demo tonight with Page and Sethorian.. it was actually quite a lot of fun, felt much like playing the L4D demo back in the day when everything was new and shiny and you could only play coop I don't think I'll buy it to start off with though, may wait for a sale and see if its popularity endures until then

It was great fun, but I just can't bring myself to buy it full price knowing I won't end up playing it all that much. |

Oh yeah to all L4D2 buyers, my server will move onto L4D2 when its released this November 18th so we don't have to spend ages looking for a decent server. |

It comes out tomorrow at 5am GMT time. Though I'm not that desperate to stay up and play it the moment it gets released at 5am in the morning. I'll finish college first and then get back to blasting some zombies

Multi core is better than it was in the demo, but still causes trouble, hope it'll be fixed soon. Another bug I found is that if you try to crown a witch with fire ammo she becomes invincible. I emptied 5 rounds on her at point blank and another full auto shotgun magazine with normal bullets and she was still standing. Dark carnival has the best finale so far, the special tank music was awesome Edited by tomregev on 17-11-2009 14:21 |

http://www.midnig...iders.com/ there"™s an achievement for completing all six campaigns. But there"™s only five shipped with the game. if you right click on L4D2 in the steam list and go to properties, you will see a tab for DLC Might be DLC, and hopefully free Edited by Rofl teh cake on 19-11-2009 13:07 |
