also try creating another user account(make it an admin), login using this and check the issue, if its gone the issue is with the data stored in your user profile.. something probably in %USERPROFILE%\application data (make sure you have turned on show hidden system folders etc in folder options) from the admin session make a copy of your user profile (not the one your logged into) then delete the dodgy it.

When you log back in, it will be as if logging in to your account as a new user! but you can copy data back from the copy you have made if your missing anything important to the relevant section, once your happy make sure you give it a quick restart Smile

if this fails then maybe a system restore.. if that is fail & you have your os install disks, you can run sfc /scannow to run the system file checker which will restore the system files to default (this does mean you will have a raft of updates to download afterwards as well).

tbh the amount of time this has been going on a re-install would have been quicker lol
