Time for a new keyboard
Cold
So I have decided I will treat myself to some news mouse feet for the deathadder, and a new keyboard!
I really, really like the razer lycosa, but I can't justify spending that much on a keyboard.
So, can anybody find my a lycosa for a really, really good price or recommend an alternative?

lol a nice cherry keyboard, cheap & lasts forever! Smile lycosa is US layout which is a pain in the arse if you do any coding, the decent gaming keyboards all seem to be in simlar price ranges Sad

if you need to bait and switch your parents into to forking out for a new keyboard you could always show them this one lol

mm, looks nice, i'm sure they won't mind the £1000 price tag!

on a slightly more serious note, the saitek eclipse 2 looks tasty.

i have a cheapo keyboard at the moment, it is noisy as hell and some keys require a good smash to get them to register

I liked the saitek eclipse until it decided to go completly mad and insert random hyphens everywhere, I may have been unlucky Sad & revision 2 should hopefully be a lot better Smile

Bought a logitech G11 myself, mostly because it promised to be of more robust build quality than the average kb. Not very remarkable otherwise but it is durable, the music player controls are nice to have as well. And it's black, fits in with the rest.

cherry evolution streamDevil 13 euro lasts forever Smile
n1 to type no clicksound....

got one of these the other day

after the S key on my last board broke, so far it seems pretty good & quick to get over the change in position, the keys on the big pad thing aren't positioned 100% perfectly but it works pretty well for fps's straight out the box

the lack of number pad is a little wierd to get used to but not that big a deal for me, the main keyboard is a little smaller than the cherry standard size but easy enough to type with

I've got the first version of the Logitech G15. It's very nice, the build quality might be slightly more robust than the average Logitech keyboard. On a side-note, the keyboard is quite big compared to the average keyboard.
Control yourself
Take only what you need from him

Mr G
Had my cerry keyboard for 8 years now and its still 100% working and no problems, best £45 spent.

But newer keyboards are very nice as well Smile

so it's worth the extra money to get a decent board, such as the saitek eclipse 2 then...

does the logitech G11 come with a wrist support?

Mine did, at least. Wrist support, the app package for the extra hotkey bank on the left side, etc. You might want to compare the specs (esp width) of the G11 to your current keyboard as well, the logitech board is kind of.. big. Takes more tabletop real estate.

g11 is sounding more tempting than the saitek now due to those 18 keys with 54 combinations... though i'll be dammed if i ever use them all.

EDIT: good god it's bloody enormous!!!

out interest I wonder how many kb owners that have the access to the hotkey functions actaully use them.. I know i don't lol..I may have now go and tinker

I think wrist support is a bad thing really. It encourages you to continue resting on your wrists which is the one thing you shouldn't be doing anyway because its that that can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome if you are susceptible to it.

I guess if you really cant get out of the habit of doing it then its better than no support at all though.

i rest on my elbows mainly, so real pressure on wrists.
hotkeys, sometimes use the media keys on this board... and and trying to turn my mouse into dual function, the other function being an iTunes remote
