Insomnia Series (aka Iseries, i##)

This post is pretty much obsolete as Multiplay have finally created a FAQ for the event.

http://iseries.mu.../i42/faqs/

It is HUGE btw. Lots and lots of information.

--------------------------
Old Post info
--------------------------
I know Exxy was thinking of coming to i43 and I got the impression that a few others might be curious so i figured I would get the ball rolling by posting a huge informative post regarding the iseries lan. If anyone has anything they would like to add, be my guest Pfft

Most the stats invovled in this thread relate to i40 and i41. It is possible that the information may differ as time goes on.

--Index--

Pricing
Tournaments

--Dates--
i41 - 12th to 15th November 2010 @ Newbury
i42 - 2-5 April 2011 @ Newbury**
i43 - 27-30 August 2011 @ Newbury**

** This information has not been confirmed. Simply using old data to predict the rough days for these.

--Pricing--
The pricing for the lan generally gets more expensive the later you book for the event.

The standard price is around £90 for the BYOC (Bring your own computer) ticket with nothing extra.

If you brought your ticket after the i40 event, the price was £63 until 6th September.

Then it went to £72 until 4th October and I imagine it will continue to raise until it reachs the £90 something.

Additional services include the following;
Early Arrival Service - This service costs £15.00 (including VAT).
This basically allows you to come a day earlier to set stuff up like the tents (if you are tenting), your PC and whatever else needs doing.

I advise tenting because the hotels tend to be a little expensive. And with everything else you have to pay for its something that can be avoiding by getting a cheep yet reliable tent (which can be reused for future events).

Getting there a day early also allows you to pick a decent camping spot if you are tenting.

Multiplay normally open the gates for people to get registered so that they can set up equipment at around 6pm on Thursday. This is subject to change depending on how well Multiplay are organised. I think at i40 they started letting

people in around 5.

Unfortunately they can not guarantee network or power until 9am the next morning. Though saying that, I've never heard them having power issues on the EAS day. The network was copmletely messed up at i40 for the first couple of days

(more detail later) but at i36 the network was fine.

Monitor Rental
17? TFT "“ £30 for 3-days, £35 for 4-days
19? TFT "“ £45 for 3-days, £50 for 4-days

This service cost is variable. I advise either bringing your own or borrowing off a mate. No need to pay that much for a monitor really :/

Server Co-location - This service costs £20.00 (including VAT).
Server Co-location is popular amongst clans who play online via their own server on a regular basis. If you have a powerful machine that you can bring along, we can provide power and network for it in our server area. You may then

administrate your own game servers on your machine or use it as a dedicated voice-comms server. Although we provide all the servers people need some clans prefer to have complete control thus we brought in this service to accommodate.

A straight copy and paste from the site seeing as i know nothing about this extra Pfft

I've been thinking about going on vacation this summer and this does sound fun.

They are thinking of moving the event to a different venue. One which looks pretty impressive and can have up to 3000 players.

It looks like i43 could be moving to Telford the venue looks nicer to be fare, but personally I'm going to have to beg a lift from my girlfriend for this, as Newbury was close to her parents so it wasn't an issue getting a lift. For Homer this might make it a little easier as Birmingham + International Airport is only 45mins or so away from the venue.

see http://vanilltf2.eu

I would link direct to the multiplay article, but the browser on the computer I'm on dosen't want to display the pages Sad

We also need to figure out who is going as the seat planner should be online very soon. :3

A few people from work are coming along as well who want to sit with us (because we are obviously that cool Grin) so we should have a load of us.

Might even need an entire row just for us ;D

Seating is up! Sortof.

Me and a friend are trying to get the row 3 down from the tuck shop and help desk. No idea if this is going to be for the best but figured we would try and get a place together ASAP!!

So yeah. if ya wanna sit with us pick fast! :3

edit1
Trying to get H1-R1 free to H1-R10. If anyone else is interested Pfft

edit2
Dont worry about the seat placement, they seem to be messing about with it at the moment, my friend has been moved about from H1-R10 to H1-X11. And none of the other seats are selectable. :X

Oh shit. I should have suggested this sooner but we should have spread out a bit. Some other tf2 clan has taken half our row. At the moment Exxy will have to be on the other side unless we can get this other clan to move up 1. Sick

its ok I have moved the other side of one of the epx players taking the 6th spot along, this leaves a space for exxy, hopefully the epx player will decide that he doesn't want to sit between fish & I Smile

also worth noting this is just for giggles as at some point Tapley will defrag the tf2 area & we can give him a team list to use Smile
