I'm Thinking of Renting a L4D Server
Mr Waffles
After playing a lot of L4D, I'm thinking of renting a game server possibly from http://www.inx-ga... because I"™m tired of being in a friends only lobby and being resent back to lobby due to being put in a rubbish server. I"™ve never run a server before so is running a server hard or complicated? I'm thinking of adding Promod to it which would block up most closet camping or pipe camping areas such as under the pipe in the crescendo in NM2 etc and also extend the length of easy rush maps such as BH4. If you don"™t know what it is here"™s the link http://forums.ste...?t=907695. In addition to that I would defiantly remove medkits from vs altogether because nothings worse than seeing all your infected efforts nullified by the survivors finding lucky medkit spawns. Moreover, I"™m going to add custom campaigns to it like Night Terror, Death Aboard etc.

http://gameservers.multiplay.co.uk/ga...ft-4-dead/ get multiplay on nl network selectable when ordering. Latency to uk is good & they use windows boxes which run source based games better than linux.

tbh the reason why non of us are supporting l4d by hosting, is the shat community support for friends joining same server etc.

If you do go for it, grab sourcemod & metamod source http://www.sourcemod.net/ for admin & we could get you plumbed into sourcebans etc here if you wish Smile

Well I checked the Multiplay site and it says it would cost me £32.40 for 3 months whilst on the other hand INX Gmaing say it will cost £24.59 per quarter for the Standard Server Package. Also with INX Gaming I get a free 10 slot Ventrilo server and very importantly I can switch to any game with my server which would be great when L4D2 comes out this November. Multiplay will allow me to switch games but at an extra £4 charge.

INX are great, rented a total of about 4 servers from them in the past and I've never had any problems with them. Good ping and uptime, great forums and customer service etc. Rented a couple from Multiplay and they were great too, but a they were a bit too pricey. With INX you get a bit more for your money.
